CDT has awarded a contract to QoS Networks for Software Defined – Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) services. The agreement was executed July 2019.
In its role, QoS Networks will support CDT’s efforts to expand its current California Government Enterprise Network (CGEN) portfolio of network services that provides secure internet connectivity and advanced traffic management to customer locations. The CGEN service will utilize VMware’s Velocloud SD-WAN solution. SD-WAN is virtual WAN architecture that allows organizations to leverage any combination of transport services, including MPLS, LTE, and broadband internet services to securely connect users to their applications. Additionally SD-WAN can provide increased application performance, analytics and monitoring, resulting in enhanced user experience, increased business productivity and reduced IT cost.
CDT is currently piloting this service with a local state department while working with QOS Networks through the service development process. This will enable CDT to become a Managed Service Provider of SD-WAN services for state and local entities on the CGEN network.
