Public Service Recognition Week… A chance to say thank you

By Amy Tong, State CIO and Director of CDT

May 6, 2021 – May 2-8 is Public Service Recognition Week, a week governments put aside to recognize and thank their employees. This week honors all of those who serve our nation as federal, state, county and local government employees. The California Department of Technology has been celebrating our own public employees this week who continue to deliver and enable vital projects and services throughout one of the state’s most difficult and defining eras.

Public servants often don’t get a lot of attention throughout the year…unless something goes wrong.  At CDT, the work we do with our state partners affects nearly 40 million Californians every day who rely on their government services to be available and accessible. They count on us to do our jobs regardless of the circumstances—especially in difficult times—and we don’t let them down. The common factors in our success continue to be the professionalism and contribution of our public employees. We have worked countless hours in the last year and a half – putting out fires, saving lives through vaccine and continuing to deliver the kind of everyday services that keep the state running even when normal life came to a halt. That is why we are excited to celebrate this special week—in recognition of our employees’ hard work and dedication to CDT– and in acknowledgement of our state, regional and local partners. We are committed to serving the people of California and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

To all CDT employees and other public servants, I say thank you for the great and necessary work you do. I cannot imagine where we would be without your efforts.
