Governor Newsom Appoints Pam Haase as Deputy Director of Strategic Initiatives

August 31, 2021 – Governor Gavin Newsom appointed Pamela Haase as the Deputy Director of Strategic Initiatives at the California Department of Technology.

Haase has over 30 years of distinguished service in state government information technology. She was appointed CDT’s Chief of Statewide Technology Policy in 2019 and most recently served on special assignments as project manager for the COVID-19 Vaccine Project and Innovation & Technology Task Force. In these roles, she oversaw the state’s provider network and vaccine distribution efforts as eligibility expanded to youth aged 12 – 15. She coordinated IT systems and data decisions in the early days of the pandemic.

Haase served as an IT manager in the Office of Enterprise Technology, Internal Projects Branch, from 2016 to 2019, where she oversaw a portfolio of highly complex initiatives, including AB 434 Statewide Website Remediation. Haase coordinated the efforts of 70 departments that had submitted remediation plans and guided them to full compliance.

Before her most recent assignments at CDT, Haase worked at California Correctional Health Care Services from 2014 – 2016, leading 25 staff in the Information Technology Management and Analysis Branch. She also spent eight years, from 2006 to 2014, at CDT in the Customer Delivery Division as an account director for customers with the largest annual revenues, including DMV, Child Welfare Services, Department of Child Support Services, and Caltrans.

Haase also served as a project manager and project lead at the Department of Conservation and the Department of Water Resources.

Haase holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from California State University, Sacramento. She is certified by the Project Management Institute in project management. She has completed the Leadership and Change Management Program at California State University, Sacramento, and has completed ITLA and PMLA programs.
