October 1, 2021 – The sudden transition to telework has left employers and employees more dependent on technology than ever before—and more vulnerable to cybersecurity threats. In fact, Governor Gavin Newsom’s recent cybersecurity proclamation encourages everyone to combat the spread of malicious attacks. In short, cybersecurity is everyone’s responsibility.

There is no better time than during October, National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, to educate yourself on how to identify, detect, protect, respond, and recover from the latest security risks. To help you get ahead of these threats CDT created a Cybersecurity Awareness Month website that offers the public information about cyber safety. The site also has information about the national cybersecurity competition for high-schoolers – CyberStart America, and about the virtual California Cybersecurity Education Summit coming October 5-6, in partnership with the California Cyber Security Integration Center and Sacramento State University.

Attending the Summit will open the door for you to meet and learn from leading experts in industry, state government, and academia. You’ll discover firsthand how practical tools and proven strategies can help you identify and protect yourself from the latest cyber threats. Numerous breakout sessions offer an opportunity to earn continuing education units while watching content-rich presentations from the nation’s leading solutions providers in enterprise cyber defense.
