December 1, 2022 – Governor Gavin Newsom appointed Jared Johnson as Deputy State CIO and Chief Deputy Director of CDT. In his new role, Johnson will help guide and optimize CDT programs and services.
Johnson’s career spans nearly 30 years of public technology service beginning as an IT analyst at the California Technology, Trade and Commerce Agency in 1999. Rising through the ranks, he supervised the IT Business and Support Services Unit at the Department of Pesticide Regulation before becoming a System Test Analyst at the INC Project at the California Franchise Tax Board in 2005. Johnson devoted the next 15 years of his career at FTB, holding management positions at the Command Center, Data Processing Services Section, and IT Service Support Section. Prior to joining CDT, he served as Director of the Operations Management Bureau.
In 2021, Johnson brought his technical and administrative experience to CDT where he most recently served as its Deputy Director of Data Center Support Services.
He will be sworn into his new role next week.
