Oct. 31, 2024 – California State Government’s official flagship website, Ca.gov, has undergone a major overhaul. The revised site represents a milestone in the California Department of Technology’s (CDT) ongoing mission to elevate the digital experience for millions of Californians, focusing on user accessibility and service delivery.
CDT is committed to making government services more efficient and accessible. The redesigned CA.gov illustrates this commitment, transforming how Californians connect with their government and ensuring that essential services are always within reach.
“Building a easy-to-use and accessible digital experience for Californians is our commitment. I am delighted the new and improved CA.gov website will be an information hub for current and future residents,” said State Chief Information Officer and CDT Director Liana Bailey-Crimmins. “Through CA.gov we can deliver more services efficiently and with greater consideration of the needs of our communities.”
Working in cooperation with the Governor’s Office and the Office of Data and Innovation, CDT redesigned the website to provide a streamlined experience that allows Californians to access hundreds of state services and departments more effectively. It was designed to be intuitive, responsive and accessible to everyone so they can easily find the resources they need.
The redesign also builds on the recognition California recently received by achieving an “A” grade for its technology practices from the Center for Digital Government. The grade reflects CDT’s dedication to continuous improvement, ensuring government information is just a click away—whether you’re looking for assistance with essential services, learning about climate action initiatives, or exploring new business opportunities.
Prioritizing modern technology and user experience has endowed CA.gov improvements like an enhanced search function, mobile-friendly design, and adherence to modern web standards. As user needs and technology have evolved since the last version of CA.gov launched in 2017, CDT has taken action to keep pace and meet those expectations.
Moving forward, the redesigned CA.gov will continue to evolve. Planned improvements include scalable language translation options to serve California’s diverse population, personalized services based on user location and expanded tools to help residents better navigate state services.
The launch of the new CA.gov reaffirms the state’s dedication to making digital government a reality for every Californian by providing easy, efficient and reliable access to state services.
