With big news comes big numbers!
The California Department of Technology’s (CDT) acting Chief Deputy Director/Deputy State Chief Information Officer Richard Rogers announced some pretty amazing statistics related to overall cloud adoption efforts by state entities during CDT’s July 24 Vendor Forum in Sacramento.
The more than 150 vendors present and online learned how the state’s latest results are painting a very positive picture of how rapidly public agencies migrated to the cloud over the past two fiscal years (2017/18 to 2018/19):
- 270% – The total increase for all vendor-hosted Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS), with on- and off-premise Storage as a Service (STaaS) and Vendor Hosted Subscription Services (VHSS).
- 358% – The total increase for all vendor-hosted IaaS and PaaS, with on- and off-premise STaaS.
- 660% – the increase in CDT’s FedRAMP High and Moderate IaaS and PaaS.
The statistics prove that public entities are realizing the benefits of cloud adoption, including security, efficiency, flexibility and cost.
