November 2, 2021 — The pandemic served as a catalyst for California’s technology innovation and its continuing transformation into a truly digital government. Through a monumental effort, the state kept critical public services online while it quickly developed new data systems to keep Californians safe.
Continuing this innovation, CDT will grant $25 million to modernize government IT services. The Technology Modernization Fund (TMF) allows CDT to provide quick funding to state departments to invest in technology modernization efforts or to stabilize IT systems at risk of failure. This fund will help drive departments forward and improve and secure government services.
To apply for a TMF grant, departments must propose how their solutions can address an important business need and help optimize government services within a year of implementation. Funds will be allocated throughout 2022. The application process is competitive and multi-staged. CDT will grant multiple rounds of investments from the TMF. The first round of submissions will close Nov. 12. Additional information on the Technology Modernization Fund is available on the TMF website. State departments that want to submit a proposal must request access to the TMF Portal.
