Exceptional CDT Employee Accomplishments Receive Ovations

January 7, 2022 — Each year, CDT recognizes outstanding employee accomplishments with the Ovation Award. This award honors individuals and teams whose exceptional efforts have furthered the Department’s mission and provided better service to the state of California. The program features several awards that recognize the performance of individuals and groups within the Department.

Christopher Eddy

The Performance Excellence Award is the highest honor and recognizes an individual who has shown superior performance beyond their typical duties. This year’s recipient is Christopher Eddy, an IT Specialist II in the Office of Enterprise Technology. Christopher displayed exceptional performance and played a pivotal role in the implementation of the Digital COVID-19 Vaccine Record (DCVR) portal and Advanced Encryption Standards. The DCVR portal provides residents with a digital copy of their vaccine record, free of charge. Since its launch in June 2021, more than 11 million records have been claimed.

This year, two teams received a Special Recognition Award for their efforts in response to the pandemic. The COVID-19 Contact Tracer Team worked tirelessly to identify, locate, and interview potentially exposed residents, mitigating the spread of the virus. The COVID-19 Vaccination Support Team quickly volunteered to provide urgent IT support at mass vaccination sites, working long hours in challenging conditions to support the state’s vaccine campaign.

For many employees at CDT, the challenge of this pandemic served as a catalyst to seek better solutions for our residents. We are grateful to our CDT team, and glad that some have been honored with an Ovation Award for their commitment to advancing the Department’s mission of providing greater digital government services to all Californians.
