California Makes an Impact at NASCIO Fall Conference

October 23, 2023 – Public sector leaders from around the country gathered in Minneapolis this October for the National Association of Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) Fall conference. NASCIO hosts the semi-annual event offering workshops, panel discussions, keynote presentations, and networking opportunities showcasing government innovation.

State Chief Information Officer Liana Bailey-Crimmins said during a panel discussion that the next 5-years are anticipated to be more disruptive than the previous 20 years. She highlighted how the state is finding new ways to unite under a common purpose to put Californians first and how residents remember actions, rather than words.

California Health and Human Services Agency’s Director John Ohanian accepted a State IT Recognition Award for his agency’s “All Hazards Dashboard” during the IT Recognitions Awards. The tool expedites situational awareness and decision-making to quickly prioritize during emergencies and streamline the logistics of moving people and equipment to safety.  The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation was also recognized as a finalist in the category of Enterprise IT Management Initiatives for its CDCR Ed-Tech Initiative, “Technology for Incarcerated Populations,” that facilitates the successful reintegration of individuals back into their communities.
